Proportionate normalized least-mean-squares adaptation in echo cancelers
نویسنده
چکیده
On typical echo paths, the proportionate normalized least-mean-squares (PNLMS) adaptation algorithm converges significantly faster than the normalized least-mean-squares (NLMS) algorithm generally used in echo cancelers to date. In PNLMS adaptation, the adaptation gain at each tap position varies from position to position and is roughly proportional at each tap position to the absolute value of the current tap weight estimate. The total adaptation gain being distributed over the taps is carefully monitored and controlled so as to hold adaptation quality (misadjustment noise) constant. PNLMS adaptation only entails a modest increase in computational complexity.

This paper is about an efficient implementation of adaptive filtering for echo cancelers. The first objective of this paper is to propose a simplified method of the flexible block Multi-Delay Filter (MDF) algorithm in the time-domain. Then, we will derive a new method for the stepsize adaptation coefficient. The second objective is about the realization of a Block Proportionate Normalized Least...
متن کاملProportionate Nlms Algorithm for Second-order Volterra Filters and Its Application to Nonlinear Echo Cancellation
The performance of linear acoustic echo cancelers degrades if nonnegligible nonlinear distortion is introduced into the echo path as, e.g., caused by low-cost loudspeaker systems driven at high volume. Adaptive second-order Volterra filters are known to effectively model nonlinear acoustic echo paths. In this contribution we propose an extension of the proportionate NLMS (PNLMS) to second-order...
متن کاملProportionate Adaptation Paradigms and Application in Network Echo Cancellation
In this report, a new kind of adaptive filter paradigms, so-called proportionate adaptation, is introduced. Based on some recent work, particularly the proportionate normalized least-mean-squared (PNLMS) algorithm, some new proportionate adaptation paradigms are developed. Their theoretical issues of interest, such as H∞ optimality, convergence, computational complexity, etc. are addressed. The...
